Abita Springs, Louisiana, is a charming town nestled in St. Tammany Parish, known for its rich history, vibrant arts scene, and natural beauty. With a population of approximately 2,631 as of 2020, this small town offers residents a unique blend of cultural attractions and outdoor activities. Dubbed “Louisiana’s Most Eccentric Attraction,” the Abita Mystery House is a quirky folk art museum created by artist John Preble. Housed in a vintage gas station, it features thousands of oddities, including interactive miniatures and whimsical sculptures. Established in 1986, the Abita Brewing Company is one of the largest craft breweries in the Southeast. Residents can enjoy guided and self-guided tours, sample a variety of beers in the taproom, and explore the gift shop filled with Abita merchandise. The brewery’s original location now houses the Abita Brew Pub, offering a selection of local dishes and a scenic setting along the Tammany Trace.
